Thirty proven Reddit-story concepts pulled from what’s actually ranking in the niche. Each fits one of the five retention-tested subgenres — AITA, workplace, family, malicious compliance, or unexplained.
How to sequence these
Start with a compilation (#7 or #15). Compilations are the fastest path to channel identity because they demonstrate variety without requiring any single story to carry the video.
Once you have five compilations live, shift to single-story deep-dives (#1, #10, #12). Deep-dives build parasocial trust and drive subscribers better than compilations, but they’re higher-risk on retention.
The five subgenres that pay
- AITA (Am I The Asshole) — highest CTR of any Reddit subgenre. Titles must include the verdict question.
- Workplace — mid-CTR, high retention. Office settings are universal.
- Family / MIL / weddings — highest emotional engagement, best for comments and community.
- Malicious compliance — best for compilations. Each story is short and satisfying.
- Unexplained / creepy — highest average view duration. Extend to 20+ minutes.
